The Prince of Wales Theatre

Wednesday 19th April 2023

This was the first visit to our local theatre with this show. We had all played here before, but not as this unit.

We had been waiting for over a year for this evening and were very excited about the event.

We kept the format much the same as our regular shows that we do on the village hall circuit.

Steve and I, along with guest drummer, Darren, opened the show with The Searchers, The Everly Brothers and a Doctor Hook Classic.

We introduced Doug to a very enthusiastic audience, who were hanging on every word. The response was very warm as the show moved along.

As this was a special occasion for us, I decided to bring out 'the body' - my age-old electric double bass. It would get used more often, but it's such a big thing to get into the car and to lug about.

The time flew by and after the usual interval, we were into the second half of the show. As in the first, three tunes from Steve, Darren and me, before reintroducing Doug.

We were delighted to introduce Steve's daughter, Jo, who gave a superb rendition of the Doris Day classic 'Que Sear Sera'. She stayed on stage adding to the vocals on The Rone3ttes' Be My Baby - fab!

Before we knew where we were, the show was drawing to a close with our traditional 'Crescendo'. It had all gone too quickly.

Thanks to Darren and Jo, Pete for the sound, Jan for the pics and Richard and his staff at the Prince of Wales.

Thanks to all for their kind comments on the Skiddle Review Page.

Looking forward to next time!
